Another amazing Fela album originally released in 1976. What makes it special is that the cover illustrates his change of middle name from Ransome (which he considered a slave name) to Anikulapo. The name of the band was also 'africanised', becoming Afrika 70 (with a 'K').
Ikoyi refers to the prosperous Lagos suburb, which residents are blind to the sufferings of people living in ghettos. “Gba Mi Leti Ki N'Dolowo (Slap Me Make I Get Money) denounces the judicial system giving advantage to high society and influential men -or policemen- against the poor -the latest claiming money if they got slap.
