For those who have been digging into proto-raï, this tape is a pure gem. Bouteldja Belkacem, whose first record was issued when he was 14 years old, had a key role in the modernisation of raï music - leading to its modern form. Along with Messaoud Bellemou, they where the first to replace traditional instruments with foreign ones (trumpet, accordion). The tapes' recordings are probably from the 70s - several track cannont be found elsewhere. Awesome! Really deep, raw proto raï music, with one trumpet player (that could be Messaoud Bellemou) and what seems to be a saxophone... The audio quality is not the best we've heard, but that's also what makes the charm of proto-raï recordings. Comes with a beautiful cover. A true gem!
