Nice 7" from Chloé Saint-Liphard in her early days ! Issued in 1987, both tracks were arranged by Jean-Christophe Goleau, a French musician and arranger better known for his teenage works with Les Visiteurs du Soir/D.Stop, and later with his Collection d'Arnell Andrea. It was financed by Jean-François Thépot, a French producer and was a side-project for Jean-Christophe, involved in other musical realms. If A-side is a straight FM pop track, "Pied de Poule" is much more influenced by Jean-Christophe's own musical cravings. He was linked to the underground DIY new-wave/synth-pop scene in France, and linked with actors of the tape music/mail art scene such as Un Département or Emergence du Refus. It goes with an uptempo drum machine rhythm (in between new-wave and disco) increased by a nice off-beat synth-bass line and a killer, heady synthetic melody for chorus — Jean-Christophe has found the perfect middle ground between new-wave and italo-disco.
These records used to be sold around 100 euros ! We're happy to provide them now for a decent price.
